Description

State of the County 2025 Honoree Spotlight We were proud to recognize Ryan Sanders of the Fresno County Probation Department as one of this year’s State of the County honorees last month! Ryan began his distinguished career with the department in 2004 and made history as its first-ever K-9 officer. Since then, he has set the standard for dedication, leadership, and excellence in the pursuit of public safety. In 2024 alone, Ryan’s work led to the removal of more than 30 dangerous firearms and the seizure of thousands of pounds of illegal drugs, helping to make Fresno County communities safer. Yet his impact extends far beyond enforcement—Ryan delivered over 130 educational presentations, many focused on youth outreach, reflecting his belief that true public service is about both protection and prevention. A proud Fresno native, Ryan remains deeply connected to his community. From supporting youth sports to attending neighborhood events and remaining accessible even during personal time, he consistently demonstrates a spirit of selfless service. His work as a K-9 handler adds another dimension of dedication, as he and his canine partners share both the demands of duty and the bonds of family. Ryan Sanders’ unwavering commitment to public safety, education, and community service exemplifies what it truly means to be a Public Safety Hero.
